Tove jensen-Munroe
Soigneur

My career in therapeutic touch started over 30 years ago. Before earning my initial massage diploma back in 1992, I had been introduced to holistic health practices by my mother.

In 1993 I began traveling the world as a soigneur with professional cycling teams. For thirteen years I managed logistics and did massage, physiotherapy and first aid with world champions, national champions and Olympic medallists in road and mountain biking.
The bodywork modalities that inform my current practice are sports massage, Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT), orthopaedic massage, Active Release Techniques (ART®), and Structural Integration.

I also have two academic degrees in psychology. An interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco where I combined the study of contemplative and developmental psychology. And a Graduate Diploma in psychology from Massey University. In 2017 I was on track to retrain as a psychologist. But life had another plan for me.

That year I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and AL amyloidosis with a very dramatic six to twelve month prognosis. This brought me face to face with my mortality. I am alive today because (of my incredible health care team and modern medicine!) and because of what my mother and all my teachers have taught me through the years. Healing is a holistic journey. I know intimately the challenges of recovery from injury and illness and I can attest to the incredible power of exercise, sport, and mindset, to increase your odds of success.

I am also an ordained Zen student and a long-time yogini. In San Francisco I trained for many years with a senior Iyengar yoga teacher, adding to my knowledge of structural and functional anatomy. I've also had experience guiding and teaching meditation practices at Zen monasteries and in retreat settings. I trained as an Integrative Restoration (iRest) facilitator with Richard Miller and have done trauma-informed yoga teacher training. Most recently, I completed a certificate in modern hypnotherapy. Like many of you, I am a perpetual student and I continue to stay up-to-date in the field of contemplative neuroscience and consciousness studies.

Community, family, and friends are also critical for a healthy life. I have trained as a group facilitator and have assisted at or led Zen & Yoga retreats in California and Supportive Cancer Care retreats in New Zealand. I'm also a trained Healing Circles Global facilitator and I volunteer my time to weekly and monthly support groups.
On any day you will find me out walking my Blue Dog in the Redwood Forest, swimming laps in an outdoor pool, or riding my bike here in Rotovegas.

How can I be of service? Get in touch.

Grateful,
Tove
