​I trained at the Institute of Psycho-Structural Bodywork in California in the 1990s when massage as a healing art was being rediscovered in the modern era. I've had many mentors over the years.  The bodywork modalities that inform my current practice are sports massage, Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT), orthopaedic massage, Active Release Techniques (ART®), Structural Integration and Reiki.

The field of psychology also informs my practice. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco and a Graduate Diploma Arts in Psychology from Massey University.

Sports massage was an early love because I am also an athlete. In 1993 I began traveling the world as a soigneur with professional cycling teams.  For thirteen years I managed logistics and did massage, physiotherapy and first aid with world champions, national champions and Olympic medalists in road cycling and mountain biking.

Massage is also a spiritual practice for me. I am ordained in the soto Zen lineage of Shunryu Suzuki, founder of the San Francisco Zen Center and I practice yoga.  In San Francisco I trained for many years with a senior Iyengar yoga teacher, adding to my knowledge of structural and functional anatomy. I've guided and taught meditation practices at Zen monasteries and in retreat settings.  I trained as an Integrative Restoration (iRest) facilitator with Richard Miller. I have also recently completed training in Reiki, an energy healing modality with roots in zen.

On any day you will find me out walking my Blue Dog in the Redwood Forest, swimming laps in an outdoor pool, or riding my bike here in Rotovegas.
